Just a week back, the iOS 5.1.1 users received a great news and it was when Absinthe 2.0 was released which allowed untethered jailbreak of iOS 5.1.1 with a simple method of steps which can be performed by even a non technical person. It was all thanks to the work of @pod2g, the Chronic Dev Team, @planetbeing, @pimskeks and more. We at SkotGat have successfully managed to jailbreak our iPhone running on iOS 5.1.1 using this tutorial and hence, we’re introducing it to you today,
Updated versions 2.0.1 and 2.0.2 (updated for the newest iOS 5.1.1 firmware for the iPhone 4) have been released, but the jailbreak process is more or less the exact same so you don’t need to worry about the complexions, if any. So, let’s proceed.
Things you’ll need :
- iOS 5.1.1 firmware (download from below links)
- Absinthe 2.0.4 (Windows)
- Absinthe 2.0.4 (Mac)
- Absinthe 2.0.4 (Linux)
It’d be great if you can just take a backup of your iPhone over iCloud just to save yourself from any disaster if happens just in case of fatal error or failure during the iOS 5.1.1 jailbreak process even though the chances are rare. Once done, play the video below provided by iPhoneinCanada and start untether jailbreak of iOS 5.1.1 and I’m sure it’ll go pretty seamless.
