Design Specifications

The design of Micromax Hue has taken inspiration from Apple’s iPhone with mixed properties from both iPhone 4 and 5. The phone has flat rear and front with a metallic bezel running along the edges of the phone. The phone has a very aesthetic appearance and feels nice when one uses it. The screen is protected by a corning gorilla glass 3 thus making it scratch resistant. On the rear side of the front panel, three soft capacitive buttons are provided which are backlit. The power and volume rocker buttons are provided on the right side of the phone while the left side of the phone is left fairly blank. The Micro USB port and earphone jack socket are provided on the bottom and top of the phone, respectively. The primary camera is provided at the upper left side of the back panel while the Micromax logo is also located in the back panel. The back cover is replaceable which seems to be a little tacky when one tries to displace it, Micro SD card slot and the two Micro SIM card slots could be found under it. A sticker runs all over the battery so stops the user from accessing it. The phone is available is two color variants, namely White and Gold.

Display Features

The phone is provided with 5.0 inches AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16.7M colors and provides a screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The phone is multi-touch enabled and produces very bright and vibrant colors, for which all credits goes to its 293 ppi the rich AMOLED display. The screen produces saturated and bright colors, which really provides an intense appearance. Sometimes the saturation of color could make the images appear unnatural, but then again it’s up to personal preference as some users like the bright colors. Overall the display is really nice and nothing to worry about.

The Micromax Canvas Hue AQ5000 is powered by a Mediatek MT6582 Chipset clocked with 1.3 GHz Quad-core processor. The device works very smoothly when swiped through its interface, but overall the processor seems to feel a little. It takes the time to load games and apps while some lag is also observable when returning to the home screen or exiting apps. The lag problem is not present when light games are played on the phone. Overheating could be noticed when any heavy function is performed on the phone. The phone seems to play heavy videos seamlessly, as there is no observable lag or tearing when playing heavily encoded videos.

The primary camera takes decent snaps of nearby objects but fails to reproduce good images of distant objects. The images produced by the phone sometimes look unnatural and oversaturated with colors.
