Who is Marissa Mayer? : The new CEO of Yahoo Inc.
In a surprising event few hours back on Monday, Yahoo announced Marissa Mayor as the new CEO of Yahoo and the world is now looking to know more about Marissa Mayor. Who is she and why she has been appointed as the new CEO of Yahoo. Born in 1975, Fortune magazine listed her as one of the world’s 50 most powerful women in 2009; at age 35, she was the youngest woman ever to make the list. Here I present you some insights of her and covering her story of becoming Yahoo’s new CEO.
Marissa Mayer joined Google in 1999 and she was the “employee number 20” at Google when she joined and then soon she became a very familiar public faces of Google. Yahoo has now appointed Marissa as their new CEO and she’ll be taking over from interim CEO Ross Levinsohn who took over from Scott Thompson.
Ms. Mayer, an engineer by training whose first job at Google included computer programming, was behind the famously unadorned white search home page and the way users interacted with Gmail, Google News and Google Images. She also sat on Google’s operating committee, part of a small circle of senior executives who had the ear of Google’s co-founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin.
This is what she has to say about joining Yahoo as her new job :
