HTC Desire C & Yzi Tablet : New Cheap Android ICS Gadgets

Hello Everyone, today we have got news about two new gadgets which run on the latest Android 4.0 ICS OS. The good thing is that both the devices are much cheap which will obviously attract the middle class Android lovers. The two gadgets include the HTC Desire C & Yzi Tablet. The race for being the best seller is still on and it’s HTC this time who unveiled the HTC Desire C which is set to be released in UK next month. This phone is somewhat similar to the HTC One V in terms of design and some features. Talking about the Yzi tablet, it’s said to be a very cheap tablet which is currently available to people living in Europe only.

HTC Desire C : Let’s have a quick talk on the HTC Desire C’s specs and features. The HTC Desire C features a 3.5 inch QVGA (320 x 480p) screen, runs on Android 4.0 ICS and also comes with Sense 4.0. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 600MHz processor with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. It also comes with a 5MP rear camera and has Beats Audio. HTC said that there’ll be 25Gb of DropBox storage included with the device. It will be available in black, white and red color in the international market. HTC Desire C price in India would be ranging around 13,999 INR according to rumors.

YZI Tablet : If you’re looking to get a new cheap tablet which runs on the latest Android ICS OS, this is a must check gadget for you. It’s available in Europe only at the moment but will soon be rolled out in the international market. Here are it’s specifications, features and price.

It comes with a 10 inch (1024 x 600) display screen.
Has 1.2GHz single-core Cortex-A8 processor under its hood with 512MB of RAM accompanying it.
It runs on Android 4.0 ICS OS. It will also feature a Mali 400 GPU and will come with 4GB of internal storage that can be expanded via a microSD card.
Connectivity includes Wi-Fi and 3G will be available in some models.
Unfortunately, it has no rear camera but has a 0.3MP front facing camera. It also has a USB port and a HDMI connector.
It’s price is expected to be ranging around $203 which is quite nominal for a tablet.

So which of these two new devices are you gonna eye for ? Both of them are cheap and you also get a taste of Android ICS in such a good price which is a great thing. HTC Desire C is much the same like the One V but will be out at a cheaper rate so it might be replacing the HTC Wildfire S in the market. Comparison Between SkyDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox and Apple iCloud

As we know, Google launched Google Drive which is a cloud storage solution for Google users and it is said to be in competition with Microsoft’s SkyDrive and Dropbox. These services are very similar – you get online storage (you can access your files anywhere) and file synchronization – edit a document on one computer and the changes are propagated to all your other computers almost instantly. This is called cloud computing.

We compare the features of Windows SkyDrive, Google Drive, Apple iCloud and Dropbox to help you pick the best file storage and sync service for your online storage solution. Check it out below :

As you can see in the pic above, Skydrive seems to be a clear winner amongst all of the other cloud storage providers. The basic Dropbox account offers a mere 2 GB of storage space but you can easily increase your account space to 16 GB by referring a couple of friends to Dropbox. But, you can find some amazing use of Dropbox which no other service offers. You can get 25GB of space when you login to your Skydrive account.

There are few other points which I read on another site which are as below :

Dropbox doesn’t have an official app for Windows Phones, but Boxfiles works pretty well, making it even more multiplatform.
SkyDrive doesn’t have an app for Android, but HTC integrated natively it in its Sense 4.0. Non-HTC Android users can find third party apps in the Play Store to access their files.
Google Drive may have only 5GB free, but these don’t include the unlimited photos upload to private albums on Google+ using Picasa or an Android phone, the 20,000 songs that can be stored for free in Google Play Music, and the 10GB in Gmail.
HTC users on Android receive extra 3GB free space if they have a 2011 device with Sense 3.0 or 3.5, and even extra 23GB if they have a 2012 device with Sense 4.0.
The outsider: Box offers 50GB free space to Android users; unfortunately personal accounts can’t use the desktop sync application, which requires a non-free business or enterprise account.

I personallly have 8 on Dropbox + 25GB on SkyDrive, 50GB on Box and now Google Drive, and all for free! Useful to use different services for different purposes and to keep backups. Google Drive and Windows Live SkyDrive are extremely promising services but none of them support as many platforms as Dropbox does.

Now, it’ll be good to see which service wins in this war. BTW, which one are you using?

I started blogging Two and a half year back and since then, I’ve seen a large number of people joining this industry and have also seen many leaving it. This makes me think about a question : Why people blog? Last night I tried thinking an answer to this and made a list of those top 5 reasons out of some 15-20 reasons I got. Here I list them down with an explanation of the point in-depth.

Because of free blogging platform like WordPress, there are numerous reasons why people start blogging. New blogs are constantly popping up on a variety of subjects and for a number of reasons. But why do people start blogging? What motivates them to put their thoughts and ideas out there?

To have fun

This is the first reason which comes to my mind because this is the reason why even I started blogging and I’m enjoying every bit of it ever since! The most successful blogs are those where the blogger has a passionate interest in the subject matter, and can share that passion with readers. When you enjoy the topic, you are more likely to blog frequently and connect with your readers.

To make money

These kind of blogging requires a fair amount of work and time in order to reach a certain level where it becomes easier to make living out of blogging. Many people join blogging to make money and there are very few who succeed in this is just because blogging for money requires a true dedication, passion, hard work and a lot of time.

To Engage/ Socialize/ Help others

Some people start a blog to help others who may be going through similar circumstances, such as a terminal disease or illness, or parenting-related issues. These kind of blogs are great to connect directly to others having likewise interest and some people also blog to share pictures, videos along with their friends just to socialize with them when they can’t in the real world too often.

This can be categorized as corporate blogging. A blog is a great way to connect with your site visitors, as well as entice new visitors to stop by and see what your website is all about. How to Design Nokia Lumia 900 Graphically

Nokia Lumia 900, a blue-beauty said to be Queen among all other Microsoft Smartphones, has been launched in India few weeks ago. Unique design and fabulous features with 4.3” AMOLED clearblack glass touchscreen and all starts with $99. Anyways you can find out more about L900 on its Official Nokia Product Page. Because we are going to design it graphically and features of the phone don’t matter there in designing.

In this first graphic design tutorial on Skotgat.com, you will be guided through the designing steps of Nokia Lumia 900. As I have not captured the screen shot of the program I am using (Inkscape) this would be little difficult if you are a beginner in designing. By the way this tut is fully suitable for intermediate designers. It is universal tutorial as you can implement in whatever graphic application e.g. Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop or Inkscape (Which I have used). Follow the steps below.

Step 1

At the bottom layer draw a vertical rectangular shape of size 100×180 pixels. And fill the color #00a7d8.

Step 2

Now, we have to make those corner rounded of radius 5px

And your rectangle will look like :

Step 3

Now it is time to add gradients to the rectangle. We will assume that brighter side is at right and darker or shadow will be at left. We will need four gradient nodes e.g. Left most, near Left edge, near Right edge and Right most. See the image below. Gradient style will be Linear.

And you will have something like this :

We need to design AMOLED clearblack screen instead we will draw only clearblack screen. (Just a simple black rectangular screen with rounded corner)

Size : 160x275px
Corner Radius : 12px
Color: #1a1a1a

And you will have :

Main screen as black sharp cornered rectangle.

Color : Black #000
No radius

Step 6

Now its icons turn. Nokia’ Symbol, Front Camera, Back button, Windows Button, Search button, battery and a network Icons are provided here just because of ease.

And after setting these icons appropriately you will have something like below :

This is the main part to give a realistic effect to our Nokia lumia900. And it is its glare on the screen. We will add glossy layer as the top most layer. For that we need to design one more gradient as the same size of that Clearblack screen with 12px radius. But this time gradient will also have different opacity(transparency) at different nodes. Even though I have used Radial gradient, you can use Linear to make the thing simple.

And after setting this glare up the screen, you have your Nokia Lumia 900 almost ready. Look at this one :

I’ve been hearing this “Google Panda” word since a long time now and people are making too much noise about it everywhere I go. They’ve been asking me about my experiences with Panda algorithm updates by Google and the ways to recover from Google Panda updates and I did even ask the same question if my readers would like to read my opinions and tips about Google Panda and I was stunned by the response I got. People are actually awaiting to know and find the solution. So, here I am.

One thing I must need to inform you that “There is no perfect cure to Google Panda”. Mark my words. People selling services to save you from Panda are no real ninjas. They are just doing their business and I can guarantee you that even they can not give you the guarantee in writing. So, Teaching or sharing recovery from Panda updates are just about sharing the obvious things, sharing the experiences and nothing more than that.

Below, you’ll find some quick points you definitely need to follow if your website has been affected by Google Panda. Everyone is expecting Apple to release it’s next iPhone at the WWDC 2012. Any news or a rumour about the new iPhone always excites people a lot as it obviously will be an incredible innovation to be let out. Today we’ve got our eyes on a new concept by Antonio De Rosa from ADR Studios which looks a very cool and really beautiful concept of the new iPhone. They have named it ‘iPhone Plus’ which could be technologically an advanced build of what iPhone 5 would look like. They say that hundreds of voices, scoops and descriptions have allowed them to imagine the new upcoming iPhone. So say hello to iPhone Plus!

Like Macintosh Plus, iPhone Plus is the real evoultion of iPhone concept. Earlier we had also witnesses a concept called the iPhone SJ which imagined the iPhone 4S and was amazing. The iPhone Plus concept brings the most advanced technology ever seen on a smartphone. It has a Liquidmetal body, screen made up of double aluminosilicates sheet glasses and chromium edging.

Specifications Of iPhone Plus :

A 4.3″ Retina Display with in-cell technology, and has a poly-carbon layer which makes it very sleek phone.
It has a A6 quad core processor.
A 10MP rear camera with f/2.4 wide angle lens which is capable of 1080p HD video recording at 30fps followed by a 2MP front facing camera with 480p SD video recording ability.
It also has a rear motion sensor and a pico projector which is ideal for beaming photos and videos onto any surface.
The beautiful iPhone Plus has also got a captivative home button along with a slimmed down dock connector.

Apple Inc. Announces Dates for WWDC 2012 : June 11-15, San Fransisco

The big news by the giant is finally here which we’ve all been waiting for. Apple Inc. has announced their dates for the annual developer conference WWDC 2012 in a mail sent out by them. The company will focus on the future of iOS and OS X at the conference, featuring more than 100 technical sessions by Apple engineers.

It’s interesting to note that WWDC 2012 is happening approximately two weeks after Tim Cook takes the stage at AllThingsD‘s D10 conference, which probably means we’ll learn a bit about WWDC’s program in advance.

Apple has also unveiled a new Apple logo for the WWDC 2012. Below is the new logo image :
